About Draw Near

Why these songs exist

Draw Near is for two kinds of people: those who have walked with God for years and want music that feeds that walk, and those who keep their distance from church but can't quite shake the question of whether there is more.

Wherever you stand between those two, you're welcome here. The music asks nothing of you except an open ear.

It's not how tight I'm holding, it's the One who holds my name.
No es lo fuerte que me aferro: es Aquel que sostiene mi nombre.
Why music, of all things?

What you sing along with stays with you

Honest music that goes deep is strangely hard to find these days: songs that lift instead of drain, and still mean something at 3 a.m. That gap is where these songs come from.

I
Lines from the oldest book

Every song grows out of real Bible passages, sung in today's language. What stays in your head is scripture, not just a hook.

II
Repetition does the quiet work

Your brain rehearses songs on its own long after they end. Hear these often enough and the words are simply there: at the red light, in the waiting room, at 3 a.m.

III
Singing beats listening

The lyrics light up word by word, karaoke-style, so you're in from the first listen. What you sing yourself sinks deeper than what you only hear.

IV
Words shape you, both ways

Research shows harsh, degrading lyrics measurably push thoughts their way. These songs are built to pull the other way: more peace, less spinning.

For your time with God, your drive home, and the nights your head won't switch off.

Said out loud

Yes, the music is created with AI

You deserve to know that, so it stands right here instead of in a footnote. And look what it makes possible: the oldest message there is, sung in every genre it deserves, indie folk to blues, in more than one language.

The hours go into the words. Every song starts with real Bible passages and real experiences, lived or shared with us, and gets rewritten until it sounds like life instead of a sermon. The tools are new. What they carry is not.

Who is behind this

A small group of believers

Some of us have walked with God for many years. Some are newer on the road and want music that helps their faith take root and grow. And some are simply here for the joy of it: good music that is positive without being shallow. That mix is on purpose, it keeps the songs honest for both sides of the road.

What unites the group is the wish to pass the gift on instead of keeping it, and to give you a real chance to do what the name says: draw near to God. The heart of it all is the New Testament and its good news; around that heart grow songs from the Psalms, the Proverbs, and the wisdom in between. And if you want that good news itself, in plain words, it has its own page.

What you'll find here

Take what helps, leave the rest

Come near to God and he will come near to you.”

James 4:8, NIV · the verse behind the name

That's the invitation. The songs are just the doorway.
